Sacred Love Growing through Challenges; Part 1

By Christopher Walker STAY CLOSE, MY HEART Stay close, my heart, to the one who knows your ways; Come into the shade of the tree that allays has fresh flowers. Don’t stroll idly through the bazaar of the perfume-markers: Stay in the shop of the sugar-seller. If you don’t find true balance, anyone can deceive you; Anyone can trick out of a thing of straw, And make you take it for gold Don’t squat with a bowl before every boiling pot; In each pot on the fire you find very different things. Not all sugarcanes have sugar, not all abysses a peak; Not all eyes possess vision, not every sea is full of pearls. O nightingale, with your voice of dark honey! Go on lamenting! Only your drunken ecstasy can pierce the rock’s hard heart! Surrender yourself, and if you cannot be welcomes by the Friend, Know that you are rebelling inwardly like a thread That doesn’t want to go through the needle’s eye! The awakened heart is a lamp; protect it by the him of your robe! Hurry and get out of this wind, for the weather is bad. And when you’ve left this storm, you will come to a fountain; You’ll find a Friend there who will always nourish your soul. And with your soul always green, you’ll grow into a tall tree Flowering always with sweet light-fruit, whose growth is interior. RUMI Ego is the shell surrounding the real you, and sometimes that shell is made of such steel it cant be moved with dynamite. The shell is made from should be this and shouldnt be that and be like this and be like that. The shell is made from other peoples opinions, our opinions, and institutional opinions. They are our most valued commodities because we feel we are someone when we give or have them. They are the cheapest things on earth, everyone gives them for free, yet, they are the most expensive because the price we pay for valuing them, is a broken hearted love. Righteousness is the shell made of steel, the ego, fighting to be in control, Im right and the world got it wrong. I saw one American Evangelist say that 5.5 billion people in the world got it wrong, and his God was right. How could a person be so stupid? Yet, this is the way we approach life. We want to be right and anything outside of that is wrong and evil. With righteousness, people are embarrassed at their own deceptions, their inability to be authentic. It is humiliating to be so close to someone, that all the preaching is revealed to be a mask. You get exposed because your lover gets behind the mask after some weeks or years, they really see you, and people would rather be single, act with violence or blame than break that shell, be exposed. So they move to a relationship where they are really not exposed for their inauthentic love, another city, another relationship, another argument, another workshop, another book, another religion, another yoga school, another career, another guru, rather than be open, in love with authenticity. We want love. We ache for sacred and loving relationships. We want the depth of a soul mate, a relationship that lasts forever, but would rather project our ego onto everyone else than change or expand it. The whole issue of emotion comes to this. All emotion is only half the truth, an illusion; a complete lie. Life is balanced, we distort it by projecting out opinion onto it. We interpret it with our ego and spin it left or right and therefore emotionalise it. By emotionalising things, we can make it safe. And from a love aspect, then we see where we are out of integrity and could bring our ego back to balance, if we chose to. This is everyday reality. While the ego is always going to go through this emotional drama and try to work out left from right, we must be willing to prioritise love over emotion. If you can admit that your emotions are just your emotions, then there is a chance to make tomorrow better than today. Grow. Then, your judgments, expectations and blame games (including religious and philosophical beliefs) can become a treasure of material to help you grow your ego, expand your love. You can simply prioritise love, trust love and then process the emotion. They are compatible. To quote the bible, as above so below, the bigger your ego (the more of life it can see without judgment) the more love you can have. We simply take each blockage to love, find the balance in it, and move it to love. We expand our expectations to include real life, rather than exclude things. This is all very obvious when I take people trekking in the Himalayas of Nepal. They bring their way of thinking from back home, and try to apply it to walking up the side of steep hills. Their emotions take charge and at the bottom of the hill, they are enthusiastic, infatuated, brimming with excitement. But the hill is so long, that excitement turns to disbelief and frustration (the honeymoon is over). So, about 1 hour into the climb, the ego, being dualistic, swings to the other side, and our emotions go downward, to balance the upward emotion of the first hour. People start to complain about the whole stupid hill, the boots hurt, legs ache. When the ego goes into emotional resentment it uses blame so that it doesnt feel stupid, and after 10 minutes blaming the bad path, the steep hill, neither of which really cares, they blame me. Gradually the swings of emotion get shorter, from 1 hour down to 1 minute. An internal war begins, Yes I can do it to — no I cant make it and finally, every step, Yes, no, yes, no, yes, no. The brain is going mad, swinging, and just when it is ready to surrender, something else comes over them. The ego gives up and the emotions fall away. That ego which drives us in city life is just no use here, and we get a sense of spirit, our second wind. Similarly, in a relationship we start by committing to climb this magnificent journey together. We jump in, full of tingles and bubbles, phone calls and emails, poems and flowers. Then we begin to close down. Emotions become more challenging than we thought, so we fight with our ego to change things, everything. Maybe after that, through all the emotional uppers and downers (often peaks at 7 years) we can get back to real love. Our second wind in relationships, and walk together up the hill. Thats a little disappointing, because we have the idea that there will be no challenge. For everything in life there is a cost. If we arent willing to grow in relationship, to remain a child, then we are going to end up running around having affairs or living a loveless life. The ego fights, but we need to say I love you and Even though this is not comfortable right now, I can grow through this challenge This is a sacred relationship. You dont run, you grow and take the bull by the horns. Even if they leave, you never stop loving them as a person. It doesnt have to take 7 years or 7 minutes. If you are ready to grow through emotions, you are ready to love. Chris Walker is a world leading change agent, an environmentalist and author of more than 20 books. Different Man Same Issues Syndrome

By Annie Kaszina Im in a relationship with a man who is very kind and loving. With me he is manipulative and I have to learn to deal with that. He says that in a relationship people have to compromise. What do you pick up on? That hes kind and loving? That hes right, people do have to compromise in a relationship? That hes manipulative? Or that F., the woman in question, has to learn to deal with it? What I picked up on, when F. said that to me recently, was that it was exactly the same thing shed been saying a few months back when shed last spoken to me. In the interests of the relationship (allegedly) her partner had made it clear to her where her faults lay, the problems she was creating in the relationship by her stubbornness and how loving and long suffering he was. F. had been spent a lot of time and energy trying to get him to see her point of view and her needs. But then, F. is a fighter. She will fight tooth and nail to save a relationship she believes has potential. She also believes its her responsibility, as a woman, to nurture the relationship, single-handed. My first question to F., a few months on, was: is this the same man, or another man? It was another man. Only the issues hadnt changed. Now you might argue that if the same relationship happens to a person twice or more, then it has to be their responsibility. Thats absolutely right of course. Its just a case of clarifying exactly where their responsibility lies. F.s partner would argue that problems in the relationship are F.s responsibility; especially as the scenario is so similar to her previous relationship. F. herself has become conditioned by past experience to believe that anything that goes wrong must be her fault. It seems that the person who apportions the most blame, often enough, as quickly as they can, establishes their credibility and innocence. F.s a tryer, not a blamer. So shes come to believe that most of it is most likely her fault. What F. is actually responsible for is being attracted to the same kind of man who has always attracted her in the past hardly surprising when you think about; you tend to be most attracted by what you know and are conditioned to respond to. Especially when you desperately need to make it work in order to disprove some very harsh judgements about yourself. F., like a lot of women, has looked at the man, not the baggage, and dived in headfirst. She hasnt yet realised that the baggage makes the man. You can use words, the way you use clothing, to present your body in a specific way. Both can be used to make misleading statements about you; they can disguise your flaws and make you appear more attractive than you truly are. There isnt that much that you can do with the baggage. It depends whether, like F., you act like a willing porter and start trying to heft another persons baggage around for them, or whether you are prepared to notice the quantity involved and start getting a sense of what it contains. F.s responsibility is for being too self-denying and too willing to transport another persons heavy baggage, in addition to her own. Just as there are some people who are willing to carry gargantuan amounts of baggage for you, so too are there other people who are always on the look-out for a psychological porter. And thats how F. has ended up in the misery of the Different Man, Same Issues Syndrome. So, how does F. stop it happening again? How does anyone stop it happening again? First, take it slowly. Rushing in headlong may feel good at the time, but you usually end up with a sore head. Second, take a long hard look at the baggage. And then see what happens if, instead of trying to heft theirs, you put yours down beside it companionably. A relationship should be a place where you lay your burdens down sometimes, rather than shoulder someone elses. Any relationship that requires heavy lifting is likely to put intolerable strain on you before too long. And always remember, there are plenty of relationships, and plenty of potential partners out there, that are all about lightness and joy and making it easy. Third, if you know that you have a tendency to carry other peoples baggage for them and blame yourself for everything, get some support. Enlist the help of a supportive third party, like a coach or a counsellor who will help you see the wood for the trees. Fourth, be very wary of the c word: i.e. compromise. Its a funny old word, we all know what its meant to mean. What it really means, most of the time, is: in order for this thing to work, the way I want it to work, youre going to have to sacrifice your hopes, dreams, beliefs and ideals. Better than compromise, any day, is negotiation. Thats when both partners discuss the common ground they hold important and agree to each make concessions on the peripheral stuff, in order to make their partner happy and to nurture the relationship. When people truly negotiate, both give and both grow. In other words change occurs. Both parties evolve. And it doesnt need to hurt, at all. So you need never be stuck in the Different Man Same Issues Syndrome again. Patio Furniture - Coordinating Cushions, Chairs, And Canopies

By Rika Susan Patio furniture is often the ‘afterthought’ in a patio design. Ideally, however, your design plans should incorporate basic ideas about patio furniture. A well-coordinated look is possible only if the patio itself, the patio awning or canopy, and the patio furniture complement one another. You have a diverse range of choices available. One of the most popular is cast aluminum patio furniture. As long as you steer clear of tubular framing, these furniture pieces are extremely functional on a patio. In spite of being fairly lightweight and easy to move about, solid cast aluminum chairs are sturdy enough to withstand the wind and weather to a large extent. In contrast to wrought iron sets, cast aluminum patio furniture won’t rust. It is preferable to buy furniture with welded joints. If bolts are used, they should be stainless steel or aluminum. A solidly crafted aluminum chair, that is powder coated, will withstand years of weather extremes, and family fun. Just make sure that you follow the maintenance instructions to the letter, or you may find that you have voided your warranty! Usually all your aluminum patio furniture asks for, is to be spruced up with a bit of water, to which a gentle detergent has been added. This if often followed by a light coating of car wax as a sealant. The Telescope Sling Collection is an example of aluminum patio furniture, with styles to suit any patio design. Wood patio furniture is a popular choice, because of the warm atmosphere it creates. Western Red Cedar is frequently used, because of its well-known weatherproof properties. As the wood isn’t prone to warping or cracking, it is highly usable outdoors. Cedar is oil-rich, an important factor as far as wood preservation is concerned. It also has an inbuilt insect repellant! A Cedar set has a richness, which can be further enhanced with your choice of fabric for the patio furniture cushions. Another category you may consider, is plastic and resin patio furniture, such as the Kettler Outdoor Furniture range. A wide variety of chairs, chaise lounge designs, and tables are available. Resin patio furniture is superbly suitable for outdoor use, because of its weather-resistant characteristics. Resin has the ability to go with the flow, so to speak. It expands and contracts with changing weather conditions, and doesn’t fade. The Kettler range of patio furniture use a double-injection molding process, which adds to its quality and explains why these pieces have such a long life. If your patio design guides you to choose a Sunbrella Awning, you have the perfect partner for your patio furniture. Sunbrella fabrics are well-tested for outdoor use. Creating a perfectly coordinated look is painless, with such a classy range to choose from. Your patio furniture cushions, decked in Sunbrella’s fashionable fabrics, will be unlikely to fade or stain. Your patio is there to add to your quality of life, and to facilitate effortless entertaining. Every aspect of it should therefore be easy to maintain. By choosing Sunbrella fabrics, you choose carefree patio living. Your extra living ‘room’, has to be comfortable and relaxing. Your choice of patio furniture is important enough to justify careful deliberation! Weight Loss Success - Extreme Self-Discipline Made Easy

By Laurie L. Bell How many times have you decided that another diet did not work? Was it the diet that did not work or your self-discipline that failed? Just about any diet will eliminate those unwanted pounds, when you learn to use your self-discipline. Everyone has self-discipline to one degree or another. If you are not fit, you simply need to learn to use your self-discipline. Prior to joining a health club in 1987, I was very undisciplined in every area of my life. For example, in the middle of a freezing North Dakota winter, I received a utility company notice that my power would be shut off immediately since I had not paid my bill. Of course I had not paid my bill, I could not find it. Because I did not want to freeze, I quickly paid the bill. I realized being undisciplined and procrastinating was not a good lifestyle. Because of my undeveloped self-discipline, I took 5 years to get my 4-year degree. I just did not bother to exert myself. Developing self-discipline requires energy. Energy comes from exercising. Once I began exercising in March 1987, my energy level steadily increased. I began to realize that I was in control of my life. Self-discipline is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. Conversely, the less you use your self-discipline, the weaker it gets. The first step to developing self-discipline is simply understanding this: you CAN develop extreme self-discipline! Get the notion out of your head that you do not have self-discipline. The second step to developing self-discipline is to set up your environment for success. Toss all your trigger foods. How do you expect to be successful at weight loss when you are constantly tempted by those tasty, crunchy foods in your pantry? It is much easier to say no once at the grocery store than have to say no hundreds of times daily to those same snacks. Replace all fat-promoting foods with fit-promoting quality foods. In Lose the Lies Lose the Weight, http://www.losethelieslosetheweight.com, I provide extensive lists of fat-promoting versus fit-promoting foods which will teach you exactly how to eat for weight loss success. Finally, join a health club. Gaining control of your discipline requires energy. Energy comes from regular physical activity, not channel or Internet surfing. Exercise eliminated my procrastination and lack of self-discipline. After I began exercising in March 1987, everything in my life changed. I no longer had to take several naps every day. I began to get things done. I quickly completed my college degree. I wrote Step by Step Phonics, competed in natural bodybuilding competitions (and won), ran 5 Ks, got in shape after two kids, started a business, wrote Lose the Lies Lose the Weight, and had the energy to accomplish every goal I set. Do you realize, my friend, the amount of energy and talents that you havent tapped into because you have not utilized your self-discipline? What you can accomplish will amaze you once you simply use your self-discipline. What are you waiting for? You have things to do. Accept that you can and will develop self-discipline. Second, eliminate all those fat-promoting foods. Read Lose the Lies Lose the Weight, http://www.losethelieslosetheweight.com if you need motivation. Finally, join a health club. Once you take these action steps, you will create the life and fitness results that you desire. Take control of your life today. About the Author Laurie Bell, BS is a two-time bodybuilding champion, weight loss coach, fitness writer, 42-year-old mother, and the author of Lose the Lies, Lose the Weight, http://www.losethelieslosetheweight.com, a comprehensive resource covering weight loss motivation, fitness, nutrition, and body shaping workouts. The Great People Search Is On And How The Internet Is Helping

By Chadder McD. All over the world people are looking for other people for all sorts of reasons that are as diverse as the day is long. You have single men and women looking for dates and lifelong partners. Friends looking for their high school sweet hearts or other classmates. Co-workers and college buddies trying to once again reconnect. Police looking for criminals and wanted persons for breaking laws of all sorts. Separated at birth brothers and sisters looking for each other and quite often their parents. Detectives trying to find people and items now in other peoples possession right down to my mother trying to find me when it’s time to mow her lawn again (:–). Due to demand a pile of new people finder services have popped up seemingly overnight and most of them are online. Many of them are people search free type of sites. I’m sure you’ve seen the banner ads all over the net about finding your high school sweet heart and Mr. or Mrs. popular married the class nerd type ads. Everything from email people finder to business lead searches are being conducted online. There are phone number finders and even address finders. For those of you looking for love or the partner of your dreams here are some quick simple and common sense dating tips once you’ve used one of the free people finder services I’ll mention later. 1) Write it down. Write down what you want in a life long partner. Basics of looks, hobbies, interests, etc. Simply by knowing what you like and dislike in a mate will immediately boost your confidence and help you to know if a second date is in order or not. 2) Be realistic. Every one has some presumptions about his or her life long partner. A rich, attractive and dynamic individual I’m sure (:–). 2 things to keep in mind about being realistic. A. If you have high expectations because youre an exceptional person yourself just keep in mind that the higher your demands are the longer it will probly take to find Mr. or Mrs. Right. Try to find a perfect person for you, instead of a perfect person. There is a big difference between the two and a life long commitment is about the 2 of you becoming the perfect person singular - so just know that your perfect mate may not be there yet but good chance you aren’t either. LOL. I’m enjoying writing this article more than I thought. B. The second thing you should keep in mind is that if you find someone perfect for you, it does not mean that you are also perfect for him or her. Their expectations maybe even higher than yours or they are not interested. Don’t take it personally. 3) Clean up your act. Now I’m not advocating that you should not be you. I’m just saying that if you spend a little time preparing to meet someone it will be noticed that you regard them as special enough to prepare. Also, developing your personality and becoming the type of person you want to marry helps to have things in common as well. 4) Get Out There and Meet People. How and where is really up to you, personally I think pubs and nightclubs are horrible but on the other hand, you may like those places. If so, that might work for you but chances are it won’t or you wouldn’t be still reading this article. You need to go to a place that attracts the kind of people you’d like to meet. A couple places that may be of interest to you are internet dating, social groups, marriage parties, common parks, libraries, book club or sports clubs. 5) Be yourself. There is usually enough pressure put on a person within the first few dates that there is really no need to try and be something you think the other person is looking for. That is called lying and will cause more pain down the road when the person doesn’t want to be your friend anymore because you weren’t honest and upfront in the first place. So try to relax and have fun. If you happen to fall into one of the people finder groups and are looking for someone for whatever possible reason here are some tips to find some great services online. Extreme Bass Fishing For Beginners

By Tom Williamson Hello future “Bass Masters”. I have a question for you. Have you ever been fishing and it seems like you can not buy a bite? It happens more often than you would think. Some days the fish just will not cooperate at all. These days do not have to be a total loss. You can use every day as a learning experience. The first thing you need to do is start a fishing log where you can log everything you need to remember about the fishing trip so you can use these references for future trips. Start out by logging the weather conditions such as temperature, wind speed and direction, was it a cloudy or a clear day? Log the water conditions such as was the water clear, stained or muddy. What lures worked the best for you(log the size and color). Log where you caught fish and what kind of structure they were caught from such as rocks, wood or creek channel. If you caught fish off a drop or rock pile draw a small map with some identification so you can remember how to return to the location. If you own a G.P.S you can enter the location and save it for future reference. Just remember to log everything that you might think is significant. You will find that the information you have learned can be used on other lakes or water ways that you visit. We hope you have found this information helpful. Good luck and good fishing… Written by long time angler and tournament fisherman, Tom Williamson. Oh My Gosh, I Woke Up Today and I Am Fat!

By Keith Quackenbush MY GOSH! I have almost hit 300 pounds and I realized I am fat! Does this story sound as if you wrote it? I mean does it sound as if this is your life too? For years I have been talking about getting fat and trying to change my lifestyle and get fit. But today I woke up and I am a fat person. I can remember when I was in the U.S.M.C. and truly was a lean machine. Now I am the person I never thought I would become. I AM FAT. I now top the scale to right under 300 pounds and I am 6′1″ tall. I have tried all of the diets and tried all of the fads. Now I am going to try it the good old fashioned way. I am going to eat better and exercise more. I will put away the pizza and I will take on the fruit. I have read so many books about how to lose weight. I have tried many diets. Heck, it took me 12 days before I realized I could not live without carbs in my life. After some research I felt as if colon cleansing is nothing more than a scam. Every time I mention the word “diet” I think my body and mind go into overdrive and I have to eat even more. The word diet truly has become a four letter word to me. Today I hurt my back and it is because of the spare tire I am lugging around. My blood pressure is up and the ever present threat of diabetes lingers. So, today, 7 April 2007 I have made a pledge to my wife and to the public that I will achieve weight loss. I invite you to join me and share the stories of what is or is not working in your life. I intend to push past all the hype and all the marketing and once again become a healthy weight and maintain the weight. Please follow me on this life saving journey. All are welcome to join in on this personal trip. I need the motivation and the attention to help me, and my wife succeed. If you are like me and have tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried and tried to lose weight, and have failed, then your are like me. I want to create a culture for those who have tried all the diets and they just do not work. I want you to push me ahead while I pull you along. I will offer updates and tips and discussion in future articles. I would love to be able to share stories of those who are like me. I want to hear from all the skinny people trapped inside fat bodies. http://www.Ichoosethin.com Keith Quackenbush is a graduate of St. John’s University, New York. Green Tea And Weight Loss - Could There Be A Link

By Mike Singh You may be wondering about the possibilities of drinking green tea. Weight loss is just one of the healthy results you can obtain with this dietary supplement. There are many benefits to drinking green tea. Weight loss is achieved because the properties of the tea help to increase the bodys ability to burn calories and it enhances the oxidation of fat within the body. Green tea contains high concentrations of special chemical compounds that work with the natural chemicals in your body to intensify the levels at which your body burns up the fat and calories you take in with your food. In effect, it helps to speed up the bodys metabolic rate. Drinking this tea along with your weight loss diet and your fitness routine will greatly accelerate the rate at which you lose the unwanted pounds. Green tea comes from the leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant, just as regular tea does. However, the hand plucked leaves are steamed rather than fermented. Along with helping you to lose weight, this tea has been proven to be a powerful antioxidant that may help prevent cancer, heart disease and slow the aging process. Research has also shown that drinking 4 cups of this tea a day gives your body maximum health benefits. There are several forms in which this product is available dried leaves that you can brew yourself in hot water, capsules and tablets that you take if you dont like the sometimes bitter taste of the tea and traditional tea bags. You can experiment with each form to decide which one you prefer. Check out www.1-stop-fitness.com for articles on cardio workout routines and compare treadmills.
